For everyday wear, choose a fragrance you feel comfortable with. Consider the scent families you enjoy, your surroundings and how the fragrance develops on your skin.

How to choose a perfume

  • Scent direction. Compare floral, citrus, woody and spicy fragrances to find the styles you enjoy most.
  • Intensity. EDT, EDP and Extrait de Parfum describe different perfume formats. The name alone does not guarantee a particular strength or longevity: the individual formula and the amount applied also matter.
  • Setting. For work or enclosed spaces, you may prefer a quieter fragrance or a smaller amount. For a special occasion, choose what makes you feel most comfortable.

How to try a fragrance

Start by smelling the fragrance on a paper strip. If you try it on your skin, follow the product instructions. Take time before deciding: smell it again after a little while and later the same day.

Try only a few fragrances at a time and take breaks between them. This makes them easier to compare.

Keep a few notes

  • First impression: what do you notice immediately after applying it?
  • Development: how does it change after a few hours?
  • Comfort: would you enjoy wearing it every day?

Seasons and mood

In warmer weather, you may enjoy fresher citrus or floral scents; in cooler weather, woody or spicy accords may appeal. These are suggestions rather than rules: your preferences and surroundings matter most.

Follow the manufacturer’s instructions. Keep the bottle tightly closed, away from direct sunlight, heat and large temperature changes.
